Cells rely on specialized organelles to carry out essential functions, each with a distinct architecture tailored to its specific role.

We use cutting-edge imaging techniques to investigate how mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) are shaped and organized at the nanoscale. A key focus of our research is how these organelles communicate through contact sites to coordinate lipid and energy metabolism.

Our Lab

Our laboratory is located within the Buchmann Institute for Molecular Life Sciences (BMLS) at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main.

We have expertise in cell biology, biochemistry, genome editing and super-resolution fluorescence microscopy techniques.
